304 Stainless Steel Bar
304 stainless steel bar is an alloy steel material with high pitting corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and creep strength.
The two most commonly used stainless steels 304, 316 (or 1.4308, 1.4408 corresponding to the German/European standard).
The main difference in the chemical composition of 316 and 304 is that 316 contains Mo, and it is generally recognized that 316 has better corrosion resistance and is more resistant to corrosion than 304 in high temperature environments.

The rust phenomenon of 304 material may have the following reasons:
1. Chloride ion exists in the use environment
Chloride ions are widespread, such as salt/sweat/sea water/sea breeze/soil and so on. Stainless steel corrodes quickly in the presence of chloride ions, even more than ordinary low carbon steel.
2. No solution treatment
The alloy elements are not dissolved into the matrix, resulting in a low alloy content in the matrix and poor corrosion resistance.
304 is a versatile stainless steel, which is widely used in the production of equipment and parts that require good overall performance (corrosion resistance and formability).
304 stainless steel is a grade of stainless steel produced in accordance with American ASTM standards. 304 is equivalent to China's 0Cr19Ni9Ti stainless steel. 304 contains 18% chromium, 9% nickel, and carbon content ≤0:08%.
304L is a variant of 304 stainless steel with a low carbon content and is used in applications where welding is required.
The low carbon content minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone near the weld, and the precipitation of carbides may cause intergranular corrosion (welding corrosion) of stainless steel in certain environments.
